Jack Adelbert Phelps

Obituary

Jack Adelbert Phelps Jr. was born on March 3, 1952, in Tacoma, Washington to
Jack and Mary (Watkins) Phelps. His father served in the Armed Forces and Jack
would grow up a military brat traveling all over with his family, including his
siblings Michael, Cheryl, and Janine. He would join the Air Force himself and after
being honorably discharged after serving from 1973-1983, he would earn an
associate degree in Recreational Management. Jack would find himself working as
a postal carrier and through his work, would meet his wife, Joanne. They would
marry on September 10, 1988, in San Diego, California. Both Jack and Joanne had
a lot in common as she also grew up in a military home and lived all over.
Together, they would live in San Diego and eventually, would move to Oregon
where Jack would retire after 25 years of postal duty in 2007 at the Dallas, Oregon
branch. Throughout his life, Jack loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his home,
and his family. His favorite thing to do was take car trips and travel often so he
could visit family. Jack was a dedicated father and husband. On December 30,
2021, Jack passed away in Salem, Oregon at age 69. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Jack and Mary Jean; brother, Michael and a nephew, Michael
Churchill. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Noelani Phelps, Andrew
Phelps, Chris Dayton, Ryan Dayton; siblings, Cheryl Phelps, Janine Churchill;
